Hello! Welcome to dcodymartin.com. First off, it’s weird seeing my name as a URL, but also exciting. My musical journey has been an interesting one, although probably familiar to a lot of musicians. I’d like to think of this as the beginning of the next chapter of that journey.
I’ve been playing music most of my life. I started my first band in high school as a guitarist and lead singer. I wrote most of the music and lyrics. My band The Subtle Creeps came to an end in 2007 after I cut my hair, trimmed my beard, and got a real job, moving with my wife and our dogs from the San Antonio/San Marcos area in Texas to Bahrain.
Fast forward a few years and we’re now working and living in Saudi Arabia. I play bass in a hard rock/metal cover band called 26 North with three other expats. We play a few shows a year in Saudi and every now and then in Bahrain.
My current job has afforded me the chance to put together a modest home studio in a converted garage – an iMac with Pro Tools installed, a few microphones, and a small variety of other recording and musical gear – and to get back to writing, recording, and performing my own music, and to make a run at building a DIY solo career. Armed with my home studio, my name as a URL, and growing opportunities to perform my own songs live, I am setting out to do just that.
For more details about who I am, check my bio. Also be sure to check out ‘Graveyard Song,’ a track off of my upcoming acoustic EP, due out by the end of the year. Also, if you’re in the area, be sure to see me and a lot of other exciting musicians performing next weekend at FarmFest.
